The “Big-Baller” Ritz Cracker
The “Big-Baller” Ritz Cracker is a simple and fun dessert that appeals to both kids and adults alike. This treat combines the classic buttery crunch of Ritz crackers with the rich, velvety texture of melted chocolate, creating a sweet and salty snack that disappears quickly at any gathering. Its simplicity makes it perfect for a quick homemade dessert or a fun activity to make with kids, who will love dipping and decorating each cracker.
To prepare this tasty treat, chocolate wafers – either milk or dark – are gently melted using a double boiler method to ensure a smooth, glossy finish without burning. For those without a double boiler, a heatproof glass bowl over simmering water works just as well. The chocolate is stirred until fully melted, creating the perfect coating for the crackers.
Once the chocolate is ready, each Ritz cracker is dipped halfway and placed on a cooling rack to set. This is the ideal time to add any crushed or diced toppings, such as nuts, sprinkles, or dried fruit, to customize the treat. The result is a delightful, bite-sized dessert with a satisfying crunch and a burst of chocolate flavor, perfect for parties, snacks, or anytime you want a little indulgence.
This dessert is very easy to make. The kids and the kid in all of us will quickly make these disappear. You can also put different toppings on the chocolate, just make sure they are crushed or diced small.
Ingredients
- 1/2 pound of chocolate wafers, mild or dark
- Ritz Crackers
Directions
- Take milk or dark chocolate and melt slowly over a double-boiler.
- If you don’t have a double broiler, you can also use a glass bowl (make sure that it is heatproof) that fits over a saucepan without touching the water.
- Put water in the saucepan and let it come to a slow boil and keep it at a simmer.
- Put the glass bowl over the saucepan. Make sure that the water doesn’t get into the bowl. Chocolate & water do not mix.
- Put the chocolate in the bowl and stir slowly until melted.
- Once melted, remove the glass bowl. If the chocolate starts to harden during the next step, bring the water back to a slow boil and put the glass bowl over the water to remelt the chocolate.
- Dip half of the cracker in chocolate and place on cooling rack.
- If adding toppings, now would the time to do it.
